The Department of Posts, Government of India has released the official notification for Gramin Dak Sevak (GDS) Online Engagement Schedule-I, January-2026. Applications are invited from eligible candidates for engagement to the posts of Branch Postmaster (BPM), Assistant Branch Postmaster (ABPM) and Dak Sevak across various postal circles in India.

GDS Salary 2026 – Emoluments & Allowances

PostTRCA Pay Scale
Branch Postmaster (BPM)₹12,000 – ₹29,380
Assistant Branch Postmaster (ABPM) / Dak Sevak₹10,000 – ₹24,470

In addition to TRCA, candidates are entitled to Dearness Allowance and other admissible allowances as per India Post rules.

  • Minimum Age: 18 years
  • Maximum Age: 40 years
  • Age will be calculated as on the last date of application submission

Educational Qualification

  • Must have passed 10th Standard (Secondary School Examination)
  • Passing marks in Mathematics and English are mandatory
  • 10th certificate must be from a recognized board by Government of India / State / UT
  • Candidate must have studied the local language at least up to 10th standard

Other Qualifications

  • Basic knowledge of computers
  • Knowledge of cycling
  • Adequate means of livelihood

GDS Selection Criteria 2026

  • Selection is based on a system-generated merit list
  • Merit list is prepared based on 10th standard marks
  • Marks are aggregated and calculated up to 4 decimal places
  • If marks are available, marks will be considered (not grades)
  • For subjects where only grades are given, grades are acceptable
  • Applications with only grades instead of marks (where marks are available) are liable for rejection
